Forecasting the Impact of Cross-Border Trade on Transmission Losses Based on Statistical Approach

While the loop flows are a natural phenomena in interconnected power systems due to the current path of the least resistance, the cross-border trade raises the transits through the hosted power systems from the source to the sink. As a result, due to transits, the transmission losses are increased in hosted power systems. Besides additional financial expenses of the affected transmission system operators for procurement of electricity, concerning transmission losses covering, cross-border trade may cause imbalances penalties, if they are not taken into account in forecasting process. This report deals with the mentioned forecasting problem by applying statistical technics.
