Electromagnetic Exposure due to Portable Two-way Radio Transceivers and Walkie-Talkies
Two models of two-way radio transceivers, usually used for communication in front of the face, are investigated for determining their both near field components in air and the specific absorption rate of energy deposition in simulating-tissue liquids, at frequency of 446 MHz. In the range of 2-20 cm distance of device position next to the face, at 5W output power, and 100% duty cycle of transmission, human protection could be partially ensured for occupational use, but not ensured for public use. For 1W and 500 mW output power, public use becomes safe, as reported to safety limits in standards.Author(s):
