Electrical Equivalent of Wound Aluminum Foils

Wound aluminum foils are traditionally known to be used for the construction of capacitors and with some difference in the arrangement for the construction of foil wound inductors. It is further known that a specific connection of the supply terminals to the ends of the aluminum foils yields capacitance and inductance at the same time. Wound aluminum foils comprising inductance and capacitance in one component suggest hence possible application of such a component in the power system instead of using inductors and capacitors as discrete components. Objective of this paper is therefore the presentation of wound aluminum foils via an electrical equivalent consisting of discrete components that may reflect basic circuitry characteristics as current-voltage and impedance-frequency for various terminal operations, static and dynamic.
