The Action
Program 2013
Action Program /2013/IEEE-EMB RO Chapter
1. The IEEE-EMB RO Chapter Conferences and Annual
Seminars and Meetings.
Description: A seminar with
the members of the EMB community. The goal is to identify the status of the
community and to explore new opportunities in consolidating the Chapter and
strengthening ties with R&D, industry, companies, and other IEEE Chapters.
It is expected that the EMB seminar will be connected to conferences such as
ATEE, EHB, IWSSIP, INGIMED (in odd years) and
others.
Annual EMB-EMC Seminar
at ATEE-2013, the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharst. Technically co-sponsored
by EMB, EMC and other 5 IEEE national chapters
Organizers:
Alexandru Morega and Sever Paşca (IEEE-EMB-RO), and Andrei
Marinescu (IEEE-EMC-RO)
Place: University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, May 23, 18:15-19:00.
ATEE 2013 is an IEEE conference (#31128), organized by the Faculty of Electrical
Engineering, University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
Among other topics of interest in Electrical Engineering, the Section on
“Engineering in Medicine and Biology and Electromagnetic Compatibility” –
technically co-sponsored by our Chapter.
ATEE 2013 intends to strengthen the
communication among researchers, academia and industry. Presentations of
software demos and exhibition of products are strongly encouraged

20th
International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing (IWSSIP)
Organizers:
IWSSIP was initiated in 1994 by Professor Kalman FAZEKAS from the Budapest
University of Technology and Economics, Budapest, Hungary. He started it as a
scientific event meant to stir the research in theory, methodology, systems and
applications of signal and image processing, and to attract and stimulate young
researchers. IWSSIP 2013, the 20th anniversary edition, was organized by
Professor Paul Dan CRISTEA. It was the second occurrence of IWSSIP in Romania,
after the one from 2001. Prof. Paul CRISTEA extended the classical domains of
interest for IWSSIP to genomic signals processing and to the study of complex
systems using intelligent signal processing.
IWSSIP 2013 is an IEEE conference (#31580).
Place: University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, July 7-9.

Regular EMB meeting at
EHB-2011 UMF Iaşi
Organizers: Hariton Costin
(EHB) and Alexandru Morega (IEEE-EMB-RO)
Place and time: to be specified in due time.
EHB: E-Health and Bioengineering Conference. The main objective of this
third conference, organized by the ‘Gr.T. Popa’ University of Medicine and
Pharmacy of Iaşi and the Romanian Society of Medical Bioengineering, under
the aegis of IEEE Romania and IEEE-EMB Romania, is dedicated to the e-health
and medical bioengineering in general. Its goals are to promote concepts and
advanced hardware and software technologies in the emerging domains of
e-health, medical devices and instrumentation, biosignal and image processing,
biomechanics, biomaterials, biotechnologies, healthcare management, also for
some younger disciplines like bioinformatics, systems biology or virtual
physiological human.

EHB is an IEEE eXplore event (#32022)
Contact person: prof. Hartion Costin.
Strengthening ties
with other IEEE-RO Chapters.
The main event is the ATEE 2013 conference.
2. Strengthening ties between academia and R&D,
industry, and companies in EMB.
The international fair for medicine and pharmacy ROMMEDICA in 9-12 April 2013 was
held at ROMEXPO in Bucharest. Our Chapter
participated with two lectures
4. Steps to establish an IEEE-EMB-RO Student
Chapter.
A graduate (PhD) student will be designated to proceed with the
formalities via Internet. Until then please talk to your best EMB undergrad and
your graduate students about this possibility and send us a list of their Email
addresses.
