Implementation of SVM-based Direct Thrust Control of Two-Phase Permanent Magnet Tubular Synchronous Actuators

Direct Thrust Control (DTC) methodology for linear motors has already reached the popularity of the classical Direct Torque Control for rotating machines, both, with good application in permanent-magnet synchronous configurations, and pointing to the improvement of the dynamic performances. This research paper presents a comprehensive theoretical and practical analysis of the implementation of a DTC scheme for a two-phase permanent-magnet tubular actuator (PMTSA) in addition with a Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique suited for H-bridge inverter topology. The aim is to uphold the advantages of the classical control methodology, i.e. the dynamic behaviour and implementation simplicity, and to overcome the limitation regarding the disturbances of the responses; the simulation results of the implemented scheme validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for two-phase topologies of PMTAs.
